Where our data comes from

The national provider registry

Directory listings come from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the public registry of National Provider Identifiers maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Every licensed healthcare provider who bills insurance in the United States has an entry.

We update from the registry monthly. We include only practices in the types of care this site covers, and we leave out registrations that have been deactivated, listings without a practice address or phone number, and duplicate entries at the same address.

An entry in the registry does not mean a provider is licensed, credentialed or accepting new patients. It means they hold an NPI. Always confirm details with the practice.

Distances and locations

Map locations and population figures for ZIP codes come from the US Zip Codes Database by simplemaps.com, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

Partner clinics

Partner clinic details and accepted plans come directly from the clinics. See how we verify plans.

Corrections and removals

Providers can ask us to correct or remove a directory listing. See for clinics.
